A duo of products on display from Unify4Life shows us just how much less productive we could be on our ‘Berrys if we had ‘em on us. The AV|Shadow and Garage|Shadow connect over Bluetooth and let you control a bevy of AV devices and your garage door, respectively. The demo we saw had the app controlling a PS3 and allowed use of the BlackBerry’s keyboard and trackball to input text and move around, and it seemed to work pretty well. The Blackberry app itself looked pretty customizable and the UI was nicely done. Check out the gallery to see the photos of our demo with the PS3, but strangely they couldn’t bring in a garage door to show us that product — but we’ll just have to take their word for it.

Apple’s iPhone probably has too many remote apps for its own good, but Unify4Life is looking to provide RIM’s BlackBerry Storm with just one — the best one, in fact. The company’s admittedly impressive AV Shadow software, which we happened to experience ourselves at CES, is reportedly coming soon to RIM’s first ever touchscreen ‘Berry. How soon? Try “later this week.” If you’re interested to know precisely what you’re waiting for, give that play button above a push.

This ground-breaking solution pushes combined GPS and GSM technology in a micro form factor to the next level of innovation.

Nu•M8 is the world’s first GPS locator device specifically designed to be worn by children with the technology cleverly concealed within a child’s digital watch. Its unique design features ensure that the parent locates their child, not the technology.

Nu•M8 is innovative and fundamentally different to other products available in the market. It does not rely upon the child to be responsible enough to keep their locator with them in a bag or pocket. Instead, when Nu•M8 is securely fastened to a child’s wrist it stays there unless deactivated by a parent. Parents can therefore be assured that wherever Nu•M8 is, their child is.

Nu•M8 is easy to set up and use and is universally accessible from your mobile phone or computer and can be used at home, abroad or even on holiday.

If at any time Nu•M8 is forcibly removed an alert detailing your child’s current location is sent to your mobile phone and computer giving early warning of potential danger.

Other clever functionality includes a “where are you” function whereby if you text “wru” from your mobile phone to Nu•M8 or click “where r you” on the Lok8u secure portal your child’s location is then presented as an icon on Google maps and/or the street address and postcode is displayed. Unique “safe zones” can also be set in which your child can play.

Recommended for children aged 3-12 years old, Nu•M8 goes on sale in the spring with a recommended retail price of £149.99 (US retail price to be confirmed), plus a monthly subscription charge. For further details, visit www.lok8u.com.
