Similar in design to the Traveler SD, this 16GB microSD card is tailor made to slip inside of your BlackBerry and then backup critical information from your PC or Mac. This one’s aimed primarily at business travelers, who are entirely more likely to have their BlackBerry on them than some random hard drive. If 16GB just won’t cut it, the company is expected to reveal larger versions a little later in the year. The process works as such: slap the card within your phone, connect it to your PC via USB and watch as the software syncs new files and creates a backup of anything that has changed. It’ll start shipping by April for a lofty $89.99 (16GB) / $149.99 (32GB), so make sure you can plop this thing on that corporate card before mashing “go.”

Enjoy!

Las Vegas—Favi Entertainment announced two LED-based pico projectors, one a bright business projector (the RIOLED-Q), the other a WiFi-enabled consumer model with integrated Web apps (the RIOLED-V) that’s really a hybrid projector/media player. Both include an SM/MMC card reader as well as built-in memory. The company is also introducing a projector that’s larger than a palmtop model yet smaller than a standard portable projector.

The Favi RIOLED-Q has a native 800 by 600 resolution, and joins the Optoma PK301, also announced at CES, as the first pico projectors to boast a rated brightness of 50 lumens. Other features 2 built-in speakers (3W/speaker); digital keystone correction; A/V in, VGA-in, and USB connections; and power via battery or adapter.

Its consumer counterpart, the Favi RIOLED-V, is a WiFi model that the company describes as a hybrid netbook/media player/projector that fits in your pocket. It uses Linux to run a series of Web apps, which include Video (YouTube), Photo (Flickr, Picasa), News (Yahoo News RSS), Weather; E-mail; Internet Radio, and Web Browser. It also has a built-in calendar and alarm clock. Connections include USB, A/V output, and headphone. It operates either via a remote control or by buttons on the unit.

The company has also announced a versatile portable projector, the RIOHD-LED2, for educational, business or home theater use. At 7 by 6 by 3 inches and 2.5 pounds, it falls between a mini projector and a standard portable projector in both size and weight. At a rated 400 lumens, it’s relatively bright for a small portable projector, and its LED lamp should last 20,000 hours. It ships with remote control, power adapter and user guide. Inputs include HDMI, YPbPr, S-Video, Composite A/V, Headphone, and VGA (PC). The RIOHD-LED2 has built-in speakers.

The RIOHD-LED2 is due to ship in early February at a list price of $348. The two pico projectors should ship in late February or early March, at prices yet to be announced.

This 1080p shooter offers up better-than-usual low light performance and camera-shake compensation. There’s a 10.62 megapixel CMOS sensor within, though we imagine the $1,199.95 price tag will stun those who aren’t looking for something fancy when it ships in March. The February-bound GZ-HM550 capture 1080p while offering up a 16x zoom, 32GB of internal flash memory, an SD / SDHC card slot, Bluetooth (for geotagging, naturally) and a $799.95 price tag. In case that guy is still too rich for your blood, JVC’s offering up no fewer than eight other guys that range from $229.95 to $649.95, all of which should be out by next month. Peek those sources below if you’re on the hunt for the nitty-gritty details.

We all know if you get your laptop or other electronic device wet odds are the thing has had it. M-Edge has unveiled a new case for the Amazon Kindle that encourages you to get the device wet called the Guardian.

The case is waterproof to 1 meter and is designed to float. Not only will it float to allow you to retrieve the device from the water, but it floats upright so you can read in the tub or pool without having to hold the device in your hands.

The navigation buttons and keyboard of the Kindle are still fully usable and are covered in a flexible material that seals them away from water. The device has a hinged lid sealed with gaskets to prevent water from getting in. The case will ship this spring and will come in multiple colors.

The Guardian polycarbonate waterproof case is all I need to get my Kindle on vacation to Goa. It won’t only protect your kindle against spillage, but it will make it float on the tub or the sea.

And on top of that, it’s waterproof down to one meter, just in case I want to take it from the hammock to a snorkeling swim. Because that’s what I really want to do while I’m snorkeling or in the shower: Read The Old Man and the Sea.

My Kindle will also remain fully functional, thanks to the flexible material covering the keys. If I actually had a Kindle, anyway.
Sure, the iPhone does a commendable job with heavy-duty 3D acceleration for intense virtual reality gaming, but funk that noise — these guys want to bring you the real thing. Parrot — better known for its Bluetooth accessories — has introduced the AR.Drone, a WiFi-enabled remote control helicopter that takes its commands from the iPhone or iPod touch of your choice. The wacky toy has a pair of on-board cameras, one to help steady itself and the other to beam a live bird’s-eye view (almost literally, if you pretend for a moment that this is in fact a bird) from the captain’s seat onto your phone’s screen. Parrot’s mainly pushing the hardware here — it’s offering up a host of open source goodies to help developers learn about the product and figure out how to turn it into a must-have toy with replay value, and they’ll have plenty of time to do so since it won’t be available to consumers until “sometime in 2010.”

Pure’s always had a knack for crafting elegant, oftentimes unorthodox looking radios. Problem is (at least for you Yanks), they’ve been marketed and sold exclusively across the pond. In our humble opinion, there’s no better time to change that than here at the International Consumer Electronics Show, and sure enough, Pure is making itself known on the US radar with five distinct WiFi radios. Up first is the flagship product shown above (dubbed the Sensia), which boasts a 5.7-inch touchscreen, an oval enclosure and access to the Pure Lounge — a nifty little portal that taps into internet radio stations, Twitter and Facebook. You’ll also find an auxiliary input jack and a $349 price tag, which is only topped in this lineup by the $449 Sirocco 550. Said system is much like a mini boombox, complete with the typical WiFi radio capabilities, a USB socket, iPhone / iPod compatibility, a CD player and an SD expansion slot. Moving on, there’s the $139 Siesta Flow alarm clock radio, the $249 Oasis Flow — which just so happens to be both rugged and waterproof — and the $229 Evoke Flow that originally surfaced back in 2008.

Details on actual US availability is expected to come later.

Consolidation of the boxes littered around our TVs is one trend we’re happy to see, and for its part, Sherwood is getting onboard with network connectivity. Following the lead of the company’s R-904 NetBoxx, the RD-7505 also got a dose of Verismo’s VuNow tech for accessing content from DLNA, Hulu, YouTube, CinemaNow and internet radio. The RD-7505 also gets a trio of HDMI 1.4 inputs in addition to its seven channels of 110-Watt amplification; but you’ll have to wait until summer to grab one for $500.

Next up from Sherwood is the iNet-2.0 tabletop which pairs up its 8-inch display with an alarm clock, internet audio playback and an iPod dock; all of which just might make it a digital photo frame (yeah, it does that too) we’d consider putting in the house.

Now, before you get too excited, we don’t have full specs on any of these, but we do have pricing information, and here are some highlights: the 14-inch HP Pavilion dv4i, a Windows 7 laptop with a flush display and fingerprint reader that should run about $785. Up next is the 10-inch Mini 210 HD Edition, which will come in red, black, silver and blue, boast Intel’s brand new Pine Trail platform (a 1.66GHz N450 CPU), plus GMA 3150 graphics. Another goodie here is that this one is expected to ship with Broadcom’s Crystal HD video playback chip. The Mini 210 HD is expected to cost around $330.

Logic Buy (the point of origin for all this info) is reporting that these models should ship on or around January 7th, though keep in mind that all of this information is extremely unofficial, so don’t blame us if it all changes.
