This season sees an array of new models hit the mobile market and all are pretty impressive, so how do you choose the best mobile phone for you?

Well here are a few tips to help you to make that all-important choice. The Nokia C5-03 is certainly one handset that boasts something a little extra when it comes to mobile phones, it not only houses impressive software in the shape of symbian OS v9.4, it also has a 5-mega pixel camera.

This is great news for those that like to take a few pictures whilst out and about. Anything taken on the phone can then be downloaded onto a computer or laptop and sent via email to anyone and everyone, or alternatively they can be added to various social networking pages. With social networking features on tap this phone is a good handset for the social people!

The Nokia C5-03 also has a GPS system in the form of Nokia maps, this is good news for those that travel a lot, or often have to find their way around their local area.

On top of this the state of the art handset also has a resistive touchscreen display, an MP3 player, downloadable java, numerous apps, in fact there are so many it’s hard to keep up count, social networking and an FM radio.

This is certainly a good handset for those that enjoy listening to their favourite tunes. It is also a great handset for those that commute, as listening to their favourite artists on the way will always make the time go quicker. The FM radio is also a great way to keep up with the latest in the charts. In regards to looks this phone is very contemporary in style and looks like many of the up-to-date smartphones on the market today.

Enjoy !

We all know if you get your laptop or other electronic device wet odds are the thing has had it. M-Edge has unveiled a new case for the Amazon Kindle that encourages you to get the device wet called the Guardian.

The case is waterproof to 1 meter and is designed to float. Not only will it float to allow you to retrieve the device from the water, but it floats upright so you can read in the tub or pool without having to hold the device in your hands.

The navigation buttons and keyboard of the Kindle are still fully usable and are covered in a flexible material that seals them away from water. The device has a hinged lid sealed with gaskets to prevent water from getting in. The case will ship this spring and will come in multiple colors.

The Guardian polycarbonate waterproof case is all I need to get my Kindle on vacation to Goa. It won’t only protect your kindle against spillage, but it will make it float on the tub or the sea.

And on top of that, it’s waterproof down to one meter, just in case I want to take it from the hammock to a snorkeling swim. Because that’s what I really want to do while I’m snorkeling or in the shower: Read The Old Man and the Sea.

My Kindle will also remain fully functional, thanks to the flexible material covering the keys. If I actually had a Kindle, anyway.
Holy smokes! A ton of unannounced HP laptops and desktops just came across our desk, in addition to those Envy models we saw just a few days back. Ahead of what we presume will be their formal announcement next week right around CES, we’ve got some details on 14 new models — some more interesting than others. Now, before you get too excited, we don’t have full specs on any of these, but we do have pricing information, and here are some highlights: the 14-inch HP Pavilion dv4i, a Windows 7 laptop with a flush display and fingerprint reader that should run about $785. Up next is the 10-inch Mini 210 HD Edition, which will come in red, black, silver and blue, boast Intel’s brand new Pine Trail platform (a 1.66GHz N450 CPU), plus GMA 3150 graphics. Another goodie here is that this one is expected to ship with Broadcom’s Crystal HD video playback chip. The Mini 210 HD is expected to cost around $330.

Logic Buy (the point of origin for all this info) is reporting that these models should ship on or around January 7th, though keep in mind that all of this information is extremely unofficial, so don’t blame us if it all changes.

Quietly unveiled alongside the 27-inch iMac and the Magic Mouse was this: Apple’s attempt to force the unibody construction that we’ve already seen used on its MacBook Pro into the lowly MacBook line. This 13-incher didn’t revolutionize Apple’s low-end laptop line, but it did add a pinch of style and an integrated “7-hour” battery while keeping the price tag steady at $999. We certainly had our fair share of gripes when testing this scuff-magnet out, but now that you’ve had nearly two months to toy around with your own, we’re anxious to hear what you’d do different next time. Is the build quality up to your standards? Are you still weeping uncontrollably as you search in vain for a FireWire 400 port? Is the 9400M GPU potent enough for you? Did this honestly deserve to be priced at a few hundies less? Feel free to unleash hot fury in comments below — maybe ole Steve will feel the heat.

Remember this lil netbook Sony introduced not long ago? VAIO W is a small form factor at 2.96 pounds first netbook introduced by Sony. Since we are heading into Christmas Sony pimped this cute notebook’s lid into snowflakes.

Featuring a unique snowflake motif, the VAIO® Signature Collection W Series Holiday Sparkle mini notebook seems to change its design depending on the angle you look from. Ideal for every member of your household, the W121AX/WZ mini notebook packs a 1.66GHz Intel® processor, 1GB of memory, 250GB hard disk drive and pre-installed Microsoft® Windows® 7 into an incredibly lightweight, go-anywhere design. The perfect addition to your on-the-go lifestyle, the W Series mini notebook is great for checking email, instant messaging and connecting to the internet from virtually anywhere. Created to provide the essential laptop experience, the W also comes equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, integrated Bluetooth® technology, and features a responsive keyboard and touch pad.

As you can see specs wise it is pretty attractive and you will also get an extended battery as well. I was just not sure what to do with it in summer time, as snowflakes won’t turn into green leaves on that lid.

Thus, we’re thrilled to see yet another product looking to the always-popular USB port for guidance, with Kensington’s two newest universal docking stations channeling your graphics, peripherals and even internet journeys (only on the $149.99 K33926US, not on the $129.99 K33930US) over one single cable. Put simply, these docks allow users to connect up a set of speakers, USB peripherals and even a DVI / VGA display, and when you stroll in with your laptop, you simply link the two via a single USB connection and enjoy a “docked” experience. What’s most interesting here, however, is the maximum resolution support; while most universal docks top out well below the 1080p mark, these two support resolutions as high as 2,048 x 1,152. Oh, and if you’re just looking to connect a few (up to six) monitors to your existing rig via USB, the $79.99 Universal Multi-Display Adapter should be able to help.

Its Intel dual-core CPU, 4GB of memory, and a 320GB hard drive provide solid enough performance to make just about anyone shopping for a basic home or office laptop happy. It’s not the most exciting notebook, but it works well and looks pretty good doing it.

The entire chassis of the i1545-4374PBU (and all Inspiron 15 models) is made from plastic, giving it a fairly cheap feel; this would be more upsetting if the system weren’t in fact cheap, but it is. The lid (an attractive dark blue), the black display bezel, and the keyboard surround are all a glossy fingerprint-collecting plastic, while the bottom is matte black plastic. On the upside, all the plastic keeps the system light enough that should you want to take it on the go, it won’t be a back-breaking experience. Above the spacious keyboard sits a silver power button. There are no extra media controls, though Dell clearly marks the function keys so that adjusting things like screen brightness and volume can be done quickly. The keys are the more traditional tapered type, with good spacing and response, which makes typing pleasurable. Below the keyboard are a touch pad and two well-sized accompanying buttons.

The Dell Inspiron i1545-4374PBU’s 15.6-inch glossy wide-screen LCD has a native resolution of 1,366×768 pixels, which is standard for laptops in this price range (while budget 15-inch systems typically have 1,280×800-pixel displays). It’s perfectly adequate for most mainstream applications with easy-to-read text and icons. The LCD gets reasonably bright, but those frequently working out in the sun might struggle to see things onscreen. Also, view angles off to the sides are pretty limited, so you’ll have to huddle up if you’re viewing the screen with someone else. Overall color and contrast performance is good, though.

Above the Inspiron’s screen is a functional Webcam and mic that performed OK in our informal Skype testing. One thing that did surprise us was how loud the speakers are able to get and still sound good–plenty of volume for movies, music, and games.

We rarely mention software or little extras, but with this laptop Dell includes a free annual pass for Napster, which includes 60 MP3 downloads. It’s hardly a reason to buy this system, but it’s a nice perk nonetheless.

If there’s one area the Dell i1545-4374PBU comes up a bit short, it’s in the port, I/O, and networking configuration. There’s a lot of open space on the sides and back, but the only connections for adding peripherals are three USB 2.0 ports and a VGA output is the lone option for connecting an external display. The spot for an ExpressCard/34 slot on the laptop’s right side is plugged up. And though it’s not a big deal, the wireless is 802.11g, whereas similarly priced laptops are available with faster 802.11n adapters.

Given that the i1545-4374PBU is a retail system, it’s not configurable at the time of purchase. However, Dell’s Web site allows you to configure the Inspiron 15 with what seems like a near-endless combination of hardware and software, including seven other color options. If you like what you’ve seen so far, but need more performance, storage, or just want another color, it’s available through the company’s site.

For the money, the i1545-4374PBU proved a very able component combination for basic day-to-day tasks. It did better than expected on jobs like streaming high-resolution video and music while we simultaneously worked in spreadsheets, edited photos, Web surfed, and ran e-mail and IM clients. That’s not to say you can’t overtax the system, just that it shouldn’t have a problem keeping up with most essential home and office use

While HP’s dv7t provides a much more subtle way to game on-the-go compared to say, the HDX crew, we don’t see the necessity in keeping these updates all hush-hush. For whatever reason, it seems that said laptop has been updated overnight from 17- to 17.3-inches (we’re talking LCD size, by the way), and the NVIDIA graphics option has been replaced with a pair of ATI selections: the 512MB Mobility Radeon HD 4530 and 1GB HD 4650. The newfangled 17.3-inch panel sports a somewhat deflating 1,600 x 900 native resolution, though there is good news to be shared. The previous $1,229 starting point has dropped to a decidedly more manageable $799.99, though it’ll cost you extra to equip this beast with the 2GHz Core 2 Quad CPU that it really deserves.

We’ve had no shortage of reports about worms lately, with the Conficker virus making its way into the core of computers around the world, spreading fear and hate, and even grounding a few planes along its way. Today, though, we present a story about a very different type of worm: a real, live, earthworm. Well, it was alive, before being killed by the heat inside a man’s laptop.

Experiencing computer problems, 45-year-old Englishman Mark Taylor recently received a message stating that the cooling fan on his machine wasn’t working correctly. He took it to a computer technician, who took a look inside and discovered the problem — a five-inch earthworm that had crawled in through one of the cooling vents and, ultimately, jammed the fan. Taylor suspects that one of his cats brought the worm into the house, and that, looking for a warm hiding place, the worm made its way into the laptop. In the end, all it found was its doom, meaning that this is one worm we don’t have to worry about spreading. [From: The Telegraph]
